Celestino Dei was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Tobias Geleberto fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velez sarsfield's protests and gave Tobias Geleberto a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of DUGGAN FC booed when Velez sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tobias Geleberto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Narciso Frechoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusebio Nabar in the 41st minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Thanks to some nice moves Tobias Geleberto could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Celestino Dei however easily saved by the left post. In the 54th minute Velez sarsfield were awarded a corner. Fabio Regis went to the cornerflag to take it. Velez sarsfield's Fabio Regis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Celestino Dei in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Narciso Frechoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramon Piarres in the 64th minute of the match. 67 minutes into the match, Velez sarsfield's Arda Akgündüz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Celestino Dei narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
