Tommy Van Turnhout charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tommy Van Turnhout the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 15th minute, Portus Ganda's Wim Vits dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Panos Kamarinakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Billie Van Den Abeele, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 22nd minute of the match, Wim Vits got a very nice opportunity to score, but Panos Kamarinakis was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a little luck, AC Milan's Panos Kamarinakis got control of the ball when Wim Vits tried to sneak it across the goal line. AC Milan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerrit Diependaele was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wim Vits to make the kick off.
