The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 8 minutes, Falcão Araújo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SANTOS FC- FDFDF and the El Retorno de Palermo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th minute of the match Fernando Faro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Geovânio Mineiro skillfully saved the ball. When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Cristo Lorencio sped through SANTOS FC- FDFDF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Geovânio Mineiro. Fernando Faro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of El Retorno de Palermo booed when SANTOS FC- FDFDF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Falcão Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Egídio Couto hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, SANTOS FC- FDFDF's goal looked a bit too open when Cristo Lorencio came free, but Geovânio Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Perivaldo Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34thth minute of the game Cristo Lorencio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SANTOS FC- FDFDF's Geovânio Mineiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Geovânio Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Faro in the 37th minute of the match. El Retorno de Palermo's Modesto Olentzaro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save El Retorno de Palermo from getting a goal against them. Geovânio Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristo Lorencio in the 44th minute of play. Cristo Lorencio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kléber Botelho to strike the kick off in the second half. When Cristo Lorencio fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Retorno de Palermo's protests and gave Cristo Lorencio a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes El Retorno de Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Cristo Lorencio. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Perivaldo Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. SANTOS FC- FDFDF's supporters rose to their feet, but Perivaldo Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Modesto Olentzaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 58th match minute, SANTOS FC- FDFDF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Campidelis to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Cristo Lorencio took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Geovânio Mineiro to make any attempt to save it. When Egídio Couto was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 62 minutes had been played. Fernando Faro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Geovânio Mineiro. SANTOS FC- FDFDF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 65 minutes into the game, Fernando Faro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Geovânio Mineiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice moves Fernando Faro could shoot a difficult shot in the 69th minute, which Geovânio Mineiro however easily saved by the left post. In the 71st minute, Breno Brodel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fernando Faro struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Geovânio Mineiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Retorno de Palermo. The audience was convinced that Cristo Lorencio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovânio Mineiro was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, El Retorno de Palermo's Geovânio Mineiro threw himself towards the right post 80 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Nunez Walme, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 81st minute El Retorno de Palermo were awarded a corner. Fernando Faro went to the cornerflag to take it. The supporters of SANTOS FC- FDFDF booed when El Retorno de Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Illart didn't get a good kick on the ball. El Retorno de Palermo's Modesto Olentzaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perivaldo Salles in the 87th minute of play. Breno Brodel hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Victorino Milio struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Geovânio Mineiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Retorno de Palermo. 93 minutes into the match, SANTOS FC- FDFDF's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Faro came free, but Geovânio Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nunez Walme in the 95th minute of play forced SANTOS FC- FDFDF's goalkeeper Geovânio Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched El Retorno de Palermo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
