In the 47th minute, Leopoldo Fernanco fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ekain Piñeiro, passed just outside the right post. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Fernanco to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Leopoldo Fernanco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ekain Piñeiro was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Montevideo City Torque's Santos Poves got a free kick in the 55th minute. Cordearo Bertiz got a throw-in 80 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Bizi Saludes. 82 minutes into the match, Montevideo City Torque's goal looked a bit too open when Arnoldo Florian came free, but Ekain Piñeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Montevideo City Torque's Ekain Piñeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cosme Esiquio in the 85th minute of play. In the 86th minute Arnoldo Florian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ekain Piñeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Antonio Madeo came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Celta de Virgos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antonio Madeo couldn't finish the play. If Arnoldo Florian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ekain Piñeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnoldo Florian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Celta de Virgos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Montevideo City Torque had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
