Spectators: 7503 (Terracing: 5628, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 149) Matungo Gaúcho's Fernando Lara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Matungo Gaúcho from getting a goal against them. 4 minutes into the game, Thomas Pilberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Golden Lions FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matungo Gaúcho the free kick. 6 minutes into the match, Matungo Gaúcho's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Ekegren came free, but Fernando Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 8 played minutes Golden Lions FC got a freekick which was hit by Conny Ånger. Fernando Lara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Ekegren in the 10th minute of the match. Golden Lions FC's Jens-Ola Strömbom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmyr Carioca in the 11th minute of play. Michael Ekegren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Fernando Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Golden Lions FC's Leif Västlund got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thiago Lira kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Golden Lions FC's Leif Västlund got a free kick in the 18th minute. Alex Nordström was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 19 minutes into the match. After 19 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Golden Lions FC! In the 22nd minute there was a penalty for Matungo Gaúcho. Sílvio Luiz Dias stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jens-Ola Strömbom. 0-1. After some careless play in the Matungo Gaúcho defense, Michael Ekegren kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Lara. The Matungo Gaúcho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Lara should have stopped the shot. The throw-in from Bengt-Åke Dahlberg in the 34th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Matungo Gaúcho's Sílvio Luiz Dias. Michael Ekegren's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 35thth minute, Fernando Lara skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Michael Ekegren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fernando Lara was a little too slow when Michael Ekegren got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Carlos Fernando Schmidt made the kick off in the second half. Matungo Gaúcho's attentive Sílvio Luiz Dias managed to snatch the ball when Bengt-Åke Dahlberg made a throw-in in the 53rd minute of the game. The supporters of Matungo Gaúcho booed when Golden Lions FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Pilberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thiago Lira charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thiago Lira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 61st match minute, Matungo Gaúcho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thiago Lira to maneuver through the defense. Golden Lions FC's Thomas Pilberg managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Thiago Lira in the 64 minute of the game. Conny Ånger hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute of the match Dário da Cunha shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jens-Ola Strömbom showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jens-Ola Strömbom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wesley Santos in the 68th minute of play. After having played for 76 minutes, Michael Ekegren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Golden Lions FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michael Ekegren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mats Enström during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 81st match minute, Golden Lions FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mats Enström to maneuver through the defense. In the 87th minute, Michael Ekegren made a precise shot to the right of Fernando Lara. Matungo Gaúcho's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1.
