The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niki Kalkandzhiev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 19 minutes, Manfred Blomkvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AIK FOTBOLL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manfred Blomkvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sven-Oskar Andreasson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neycho Tzapov in the 24th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fredrik Axelsson got free with Niki Kalkandzhiev in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Джуджан's zone, Manfred Blomkvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niki Kalkandzhiev came out of the goal and Manfred Blomkvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sven-Oskar Andreasson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nedyalko Petrichev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, AIK FOTBOLL's Alvin Bergfelt got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute Spas Bandrov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Oskar Andreasson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nedyalko Petrichev stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
