Iwan Fafinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Brunes in the 4th minute of play. When Tytus Ranowiecki came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the AKS Chorzów fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tytus Ranowiecki couldn't finish the play. 0-1 became the score in the 8th minute when Hans-Kristian Berg elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 11 minutes into the game, Birger Heistad cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Iwan Fafinski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iwan Fafinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steve Triganza in the 15th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Waldemar Buczak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 26 minutes into the match, AKS Chorzów's goal looked a bit too open when Sindre Westerlund came free, but Iwan Fafinski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Steve Triganza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iwan Fafinski. AKS Chorzów's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Steve Triganza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. AKS Chorzów's Iwan Fafinski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sindre Westerlund in the 40th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Sindre Westerlund left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AEK FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. In the 45th minute Sindre Westerlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iwan Fafinski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the game, AEK FC's Sindre Westerlund nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iwan Fafinski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. The AKS Chorzów players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. AEK FC were winning 1-5.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Steve Triganza to strike the kick off in the second half. Iwan Fafinski made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Steve Triganza sent off a good shot on target. Iwan Fafinski was out of position in the 56 minute of play, and Steve Triganza capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Steve Triganza really showed his touch with that goal: 1-6. Kenneth Knudsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tytus Ranowiecki, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. A collision led to AKS Chorzów getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Zbyszko Bartelak hit a great ball. Through an outstanding action, after 76 minutes, Iwan Fafinski successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Tytus Ranowiecki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Kenneth Knudsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of AEK FC booed when AKS Chorzów was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emil Budzynski didn't get a good kick on the ball. 89 minutes into the match, Tytus Ranowiecki had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kenneth Knudsen. AEK FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tytus Ranowiecki was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-6. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Tytus Ranowiecki managed to get in a good position for a shot. AKS Chorzów's supporters rose to their feet, but Tytus Ranowiecki was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth Knudsen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. AEK FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
