In the 54th match minute, New England Patriots was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evandro Paes to maneuver through the defense. If Rusty Little had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the last second Rex Shipman throw himself and got hold of the ball when Oswaldo da Mata in the 66thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Ulisses Arce received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rex Shipman came out and tried to block the shot, but Ulisses Arce slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 89th minute.
