After a rather tough play, DPD FC's João Pessoa got a free kick in the 39th minute. The supporters of Brufoss IL booed when DPD FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Setúbal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nuno Pais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl Bergstrøm, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jairo Setúbal to make the kick off. In the 54th minute of the match DPD FC got a corner. Brufoss IL's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vítor Torres ran over to the corner to take the kick. Brufoss IL's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. With his leg Olav Øverby managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when DPD FC's Jairo Setúbal fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Preben Utheim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl Bergstrøm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
