In the 11th minute Dag Beneth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Ove Olsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A well placed Ingvar Ström short distance shot in the 12th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ingvar Ström during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Larsberg's Ingvar Ström got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute Ingvar Ström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Pihlgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Richard Dahlboms short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Mattias Pihlgren to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Richard Dahlbom fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Larsberg's protests and gave Richard Dahlbom a yellow card for diving instead. In the 31st match minute, Larsberg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Dahlbom to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ingvar Ström in the 42nd minute of play forced Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper Mattias Pihlgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ingvar Ström made a kick off. Jens-Ove Olsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dag Beneth in the 56th minute of the match. After having played for 57 minutes, Dag Beneth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oldham Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dag Beneth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, Oldham Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Ingvar Ström came free, but Mattias Pihlgren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dag Beneth in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jens-Ove Olsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dag Beneth spun around in front of the goal 63 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Larsberg's goal. Mattias Pihlgren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ingvar Ström, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. When Jan Gulliksson fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Jens-Ove Olsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thomas Tillman went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Jens-Ove Olsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Tillman in the 93rd minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Oldham Athletic eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
