Emmanuel Malbec didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nitra FC. Jerônimo Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eurico Franco in the 4th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Williams Ferrari in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emmanuel Malbec prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 11 played minutes Coimbra FC got a freekick which was hit by Raimundo Torres. After 13 minutes of play, Nitra FC's Nando Pinho made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emmanuel Malbec was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nando Pinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Coimbra FC's goalkeeper Emmanuel Malbec had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nando Pinho. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Nando Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nitra FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nando Pinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emmanuel Malbec breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 32 minutes into the game, Nitra FC's Williams Ferrari nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emmanuel Malbec made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Nando Pinho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emmanuel Malbec having to make a save. With a little luck, Coimbra FC's Emmanuel Malbec got control of the ball when Nando Pinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute, Jonathan da Cunha reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Emmanuel Malbec. The goal made the score 3-0. If Nando Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hermes Pereira during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hermes Pereira hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Nando Pinho might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emmanuel Malbec. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nando Pinho ran back to his position shaking his head. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonathan da Cunha was the one to do the kick off. Emmanuel Malbec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Williams Ferrari, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benny Haag kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Emmanuel Malbec came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Nitra FC's Jonathan da Cunha. But to his dismay, Jonathan da Cunha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. After some careless play in the Coimbra FC defense, Williams Ferrari kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emmanuel Malbec. The Coimbra FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emmanuel Malbec should have stopped the shot. Emmanuel Malbec showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan da Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Raimundo Torres hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the match, Coimbra FC's goal looked a bit too open when Oliver Veentjer came free, but Emmanuel Malbec reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th minute, Jonathan da Cunha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nitra FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. Coimbra FC's Dobromir Tokarczyk was substituted for Raimundo Torres. Coimbra FC's Emmanuel Malbec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nando Pinho in the 89th minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, Nuno Gomes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coimbra FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nitra FC the free kick. The supporters of Nitra FC booed when Coimbra FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball.
