Dong Kun Yang took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cris Courtois. Cris Courtois dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Egídio Seco made in the 36th minute of the game a quick throw-in and João Carlos Vianna immediately put the ball in play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brian Finnman got free with Julio Falcioni in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dong Kun Yang might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cris Courtois. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dong Kun Yang ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dong Kun Yang to make the kick off.
