A collision led to Xerife FC getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Maximo Ortzi hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Fernando Silveira in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lino Pirani prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Virgílio Custódio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th match minute, Vasco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fabiano da Cunha to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Vasco FC's Franklin Bittencourt got control of the ball when Maximo Ortzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Luiz Fabiano da Cunha fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vasco FC's protests and gave Luiz Fabiano da Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Vasco FC's Luiz Fabiano da Cunha got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 22nd minute, Moise Zgrăbunţa made a precise shot to the right of Lino Pirani. Xerife FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Lino Pirani came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco FC's Robinho Linares. But to his dismay, Robinho Linares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 30 minutes into the game, Xerife FC's Benê de Sousa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Franklin Bittencourt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. When the match clock showed 32 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Benê de Sousa sped through Vasco FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Franklin Bittencourt. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guilherme Heidemann in the 42nd minute of play forced Xerife FC's goalkeeper Lino Pirani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 44 minutes into the game, when Adelino Soeiro put in a rough tackle.

Xerife FC's Lino Pirani proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Xerife FC from getting a goal against them. After 61 minutes, Ariel Otsoko mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Xerife FC and the Vasco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wanderson Urbano made in the 69th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Xerife FC's Ariel Otsoko. When Moise Zgrăbunţa fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vasco FC's protests and gave Moise Zgrăbunţa a yellow card for diving instead. Pedrinho Berger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Vasco FC defense, Pedrinho Berger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Franklin Bittencourt. The Vasco FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Franklin Bittencourt should have stopped the shot. 84 minutes into the match, Zé Carlos Mazza notched a goal, 3-4, to the right of Xerife FC's Lino Pirani. Lino Pirani was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Xerife FC's Douglas Duarte quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Wanderson Urbano, made in the 88th minute of the game. Maximo Ortzi hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Vasco FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
