An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis Hermansson in the 25th minute of play forced FC Lëtzebuerg's goalkeeper Hong Cheng Cheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Yannick Bartz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Erik Hansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl-Michael Anundsson's late challenge caught a FC Lëtzebuerg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The supporters of Ocean´s Eleven booed when FC Lëtzebuerg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre Malet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adrian Duldurescu scored 0-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jan-Erik Hansson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. During the 47th minute of the match Vitalij Káňa completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Vitalij Káňa a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 87th minute, FC Lëtzebuerg's Adrian Duldurescu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3.
