But to his dismay, Mbaka Mbolu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Konstanty Janiczek kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ritchie De Smedt. That made the score 2-1 in the 16 minute of play. Grzegorz Soszka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mbaka Mbolu in the 27th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Artur Boruc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Konstanty Janiczek might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ritchie De Smedt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Konstanty Janiczek ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matthew Van Cauwenbergh in the 35th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Artur Boruc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Belgium's Ritchie De Smedt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Belgium from getting a goal against them. Artur Boruc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mbaka Mbolu, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Nils De Geutter came free, but Artur Boruc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute, Nils De Geutter made a precise shot to the right of Artur Boruc. Poland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2.

In the 51st minute, Pawel Dawidowicz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mbaka Mbolu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Artur Boruc having to make a save. After 61 played minutes Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Remco Van Achten. 65 minutes into the match, Tadeusz Raschke notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Belgium's Ritchie De Smedt. Ritchie De Smedt was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Belgium's Ritchie De Smedt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tadeusz Raschke in the 70th minute of play. Poland's Artur Boruc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mbaka Mbolu in the 71st minute of play. Tadeusz Raschke blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ritchie De Smedt having to make a save. Poland made a substitution. Fabian Czeszejko replaced Konstanty Janiczek. Poland's Roch Dejo was substituted for Pier Kopacz. 81 minutes into the match, Poland's goalkeeper Artur Boruc had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mbaka Mbolu. In the 84th minute Fabian Czeszejko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ritchie De Smedt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabian Czeszejko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ritchie De Smedt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Belgium's Octave Soetemans quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Leonard Winszman, made in the 93rd minute of the game. Belgium's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
