Wiley Boyle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Reinaldo Cardoso made a huge save. 8 minutes into the match, Encardidos's goalkeeper Reinaldo Cardoso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valentim Leão. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiaguinho Baptista in the 14th minute of play forced Atlético Patoruzu's goalkeeper Aldo Hawk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atlético Patoruzu's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Moreno Torricelli in the 16th minute. A very nice done corner allowed Gualterio Aguirre to score against Reinaldo Cardoso in Encardidos's goal. 1-0 after 16 minutes. When Encardidos's Tiaguinho Baptista in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Atlético Patoruzu's goalie prevented a goal. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Gualterio Aguirre sped through Encardidos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Reinaldo Cardoso. Reinaldo Cardoso made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Gualterio Aguirre sent off a good shot on target. Tiaguinho Baptista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reinaldo Cardoso came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Patoruzu's Valentim Leão. But to his dismay, Valentim Leão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 37th match minute, Encardidos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgílio Peixoto to maneuver through the defense. Atlético Patoruzu's Aldo Hawk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Baptista in the 40th minute of play. Encardidos's Reinaldo Cardoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualterio Aguirre in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gualterio Aguirre made a kick off. Reinaldo Cardoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gualterio Aguirre's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. When Atlético Patoruzu's Gualterio Aguirre in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Encardidos's goalie prevented a goal. Reinaldo Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualterio Aguirre in the 61st minute of play. Atlético Patoruzu made a substitution. Rene Harman replaced Moreno Torricelli. After 64 minutes Encardidos's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Willie Staton who took care of the corner kick. Atlético Patoruzu's Willie Staton was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Reinaldo Cardoso in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Atlético Patoruzu booed when Encardidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aldo Hawk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adilson Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 78 minutes, Tiaguinho Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Encardidos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiaguinho Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Atlético Patoruzu's Valentim Leão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Reinaldo Cardoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Gualterio Aguirre fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Patoruzu's protests and gave Gualterio Aguirre a yellow card for diving instead. In the 92nd minute, Virgílio Peixoto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
