In the 2nd minute, Eduardo Hulberto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arnulfo Herena struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Eusebio Aztore didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.D. Quetzalcoatl. Miguel Tebaldo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Arnulfo Herena took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eusebio Aztore. Eusebio Aztore dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Oscar Veronica struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Arnulfo Mannie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Darwin. The supporters of Darwin booed when C.D. Quetzalcoatl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Generoso Guillelmus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastian Socorro charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sebastian Socorro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, C.D. Quetzalcoatl's Sebastian Socorro got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 33rd minute of the match, Oscar Veronica got a very nice opportunity to score, but Arnulfo Mannie was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Oscar Veronica fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnulfo Mannie having to interfere. When Generoso Guillelmus fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.D. Quetzalcoatl's protests and gave Generoso Guillelmus a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to C.D. Quetzalcoatl getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Generoso Guillelmus hit a great ball. Oscar Veronica received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Arnulfo Mannie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miguel Tebaldo was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Diego Eate managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.D. Quetzalcoatl's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diego Eate was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Miguel Tebaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to C.D. Quetzalcoatl getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Godofredo Jerrold hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Darwin's Oscar Veronica sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnulfo Mannie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 66 minutes of play C.D. Quetzalcoatl's Sebastian Socorro was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Darwin booed when C.D. Quetzalcoatl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Socorro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eustacio Onbera took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arnulfo Mannie. C.D. Quetzalcoatl's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 70th match minute, Darwin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Hulberto to maneuver through the defense. Diego Eate recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Darwin's zone, Conrado Oto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusebio Aztore came out of the goal and Conrado Oto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Diego Eate sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Miguel Tebaldo in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnulfo Mannie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oscar Veronica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Darwin supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching C.D. Quetzalcoatl's performance. The match ended with a win for C.D. Quetzalcoatl.
