After 15 minutes, Leopoldo Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Colegio San Sebastián and the Yate City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th minute Jose Carballo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Aguilar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jose Carballo in the 47th minute of play forced Yate City's goalkeeper Ulises Aguilar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Will Medina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Misael Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute.
