After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Enzo Francescoli managed to get in a good position for a shot. elclu's supporters rose to their feet, but Enzo Francescoli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otilio Matamoros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Otilio Matamoros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enzo Francescoli, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Bernardo Calvo managed to get in a good position for a shot. elclu's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardo Calvo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otilio Matamoros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Keilor Parra fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Perez Zeledon AFC's protests and gave Keilor Parra a yellow card for diving instead. In the 18th minute, Keilor Parra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Bernardo Peña from long distance, 19 minutes into the match, got Otilio Matamoros's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 20th match minute, Perez Zeledon AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chunche Badilla to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Perez Zeledon AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Enzo Francescoli came free, but Otilio Matamoros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Enzo Francescoli kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Otilio Matamoros. That made the score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. If Bernardo Calvo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, elclu's Otilio Matamoros threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Enzo Francescoli, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Enzo Francescoli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Otilio Matamoros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernardo Calvo in the 38th minute. Bernardo Calvo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otilio Matamoros having to interfere. After having played for 42 minutes, Enzo Francescoli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. elclu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enzo Francescoli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bernardo Calvo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Otilio Matamoros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Bernardo Calvo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Otilio Matamoros. Perez Zeledon AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernardo Calvo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bernardo Calvo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Bernardo Rohrmoser had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Calvo in the 62nd minute of play forced Perez Zeledon AFC's goalkeeper Otilio Matamoros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dennis Reyes scored 2-1 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Primitivo Estavan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 67th minute, Bernardo Calvo made a precise shot to the right of Otilio Matamoros. Perez Zeledon AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 70 minutes into the game, when Arsenio Barahona put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of Perez Zeledon AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of elclu:s goal. A collision led to elclu getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Bernardo Calvo hit a great ball. 5-1 became the score in the 78th minute when Enzo Francescoli elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 85 minutes into the game, Reinaldo Burgos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Primitivo Estavan. Reinaldo Burgos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-2. If Reinaldo Burgos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute, one of Perez Zeledon AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Perez Zeledon AFC. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. elclu had played much better football throughout.
