Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Andrei Matos got the match started through his kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Andrei Matos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Reinaldo Gamboa. That made the score 1-0 in the 3 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Rosabal in the 6th minute of play forced Puriscal's goalkeeper Edgar Rohrmoser to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edgar Rohrmoser made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Mesa in the 7th minute of play. In the 10th minute of the match Benny Lehman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Reinaldo Gamboa made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Donald Salas sent off a good shot on target. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Saul Gaitan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edgar Rohrmoser came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Limon FC's Santiago Mesa. But to his dismay, Santiago Mesa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Limon FC's Mauricio Soto got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mauricio Soto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reinaldo Gamboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donald Salas in the 38th minute. After some careless play in the Limon FC defense, Rogelio Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reinaldo Gamboa. The Limon FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reinaldo Gamboa should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Rosabal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Ruben Viquez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruben Viquez in the 57th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Saul Gaitan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Limon FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Saul Gaitan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edgar Rohrmoser breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Miranda in the 65th minute of play. 66 minutes into the game, Mauricio Soto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Limon FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Puriscal the free kick. In the 66th match minute, Limon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauricio Soto to maneuver through the defense. When Puriscal's Ruben Viquez in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Limon FC's goalie prevented a goal. When Andrei Matos came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Puriscal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andrei Matos couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrei Matos in the 72nd minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Willy Peña fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Limon FC's protests and gave Willy Peña a yellow card for diving instead. In the 74th match minute, Limon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Willy Peña to maneuver through the defense. Benny Lehman struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Reinaldo Gamboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Puriscal. In the 77th minute of the match Benny Lehman sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reinaldo Gamboa skillfully saved the ball. 77 minutes into the game, Wilmer Loria was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Limon FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Puriscal the free kick. The supporters of Puriscal booed when Limon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilmer Loria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donald Salas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reinaldo Gamboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruben Viquez in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Miranda in the 82nd minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Andrei Matos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reinaldo Gamboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Ruben Viquez kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Reinaldo Gamboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Miranda in the 93rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Puriscal's Ignacio Cruz got a free kick in the 95th minute. 96 minutes into the match, Puriscal's goalkeeper Edgar Rohrmoser had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Rosabal. Limon FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
