Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Buenaventura Naranjo in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Willy Oreamuno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Nicoya booed when GALÁCTICOS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogelio Garro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celso Mora recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Celso Mora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Otoniel Soto charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Otoniel Soto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Nicoya booed when GALÁCTICOS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otoniel Soto didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Buenaventura Naranjo in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Willy Oreamuno saved GALÁCTICOS FC from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Buenaventura Naranjo put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Willy Oreamuno. Buenaventura Naranjo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicoya's Celso Mora got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Nicoya fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when Nicoya's Buenaventura Naranjo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Buenaventura Naranjo to strike the kick off in the second half. If Celso Mora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute, Buenaventura Naranjo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Willy Oreamuno was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. In the 62nd minute, Buenaventura Naranjo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Willy Oreamuno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Mora in the 65th minute of the match. Celso Mora fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willy Oreamuno having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Efren Echeverria during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nicoya made a substitution. Fabian Parra replaced Buenaventura Naranjo. In the 82nd minute, Efren Echeverria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Berny Santamaria might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Willy Oreamuno. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After a defensive mix-up in GALÁCTICOS FC's zone, Celso Mora stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Willy Oreamuno came out of the goal and Celso Mora tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Willy Oreamuno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabian Parra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Willy Oreamuno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Mora in the 91st minute of play. After some careless play in the GALÁCTICOS FC defense, Fabian Parra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Willy Oreamuno. The GALÁCTICOS FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Willy Oreamuno should have stopped the shot. 95 minutes in the game, Celso Mora fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Willy Oreamuno having to interfere. When the match was over Nicoya could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than GALÁCTICOS FC throughout the match.
