Quiñónez Turres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pinilopata SC. Matamba Viladrosa's late challenge caught a Pinilopata SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Matamba Viladrosa helped the player get up and apologised. Quiñónez Turres had in the 32ndth minute some difficulties stopping Lopez Bernal's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Gonzalo Salais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jairón Vidaurre was extremely unlucky when he, in the 42nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 46th minute CS EMELEC were awarded a corner. Ricardo Piñera went to the cornerflag to take it. After the first half Pinilopata SC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jairón Vidaurre to make the kick off. CS EMELEC's Quiñónez Turres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save CS EMELEC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Valery Luengo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pinilopata SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valery Luengo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Quiñónez Turres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rogerio Carredano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rogerio Carredano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Quiñónez Turres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to CS EMELEC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Nestor Aviñante hit a great ball. In the 63rd match minute, Pinilopata SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabio Alais to maneuver through the defense. After 69 played minutes Pinilopata SC got a freekick which was hit by Gilmar Azaceta. Quiñónez Turres made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Rogerio Carredano sent off a good shot on target. After 81 played minutes Pinilopata SC got a freekick which was hit by Valery Luengo. In the 82nd minute, Ricardo Piñera sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Pinilopata SC's Damian Zucunza didn't even have to move. CS EMELEC's Gonzalo Salais got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Pinilopata SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Pinilopata SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
