Calle Davalillo came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Arizaga SC's Laerte de Queiroz. But to his dismay, Laerte de Queiroz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's goal looked a bit too open when Ubaldo Pajazo came free, but Calle Davalillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Hurtado Gutarrate left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C.S. Guayaquil Atletico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 23 minutes into the match, Laerte de Queiroz notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's Calle Davalillo. Calle Davalillo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Xorxe Guerrero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Peramato, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 28 minutes into the game, Arizaga SC's Laerte de Queiroz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Calle Davalillo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Ubaldo Pajazo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Calle Davalillo having to interfere. Calle Davalillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laerte de Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Calle Davalillo came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Arizaga SC's Ubaldo Pajazo. But to his dismay, Ubaldo Pajazo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Hurtado Gutarrate sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's Xorxe Guerrero threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rodolfo Peramato, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Miltiadis Stratzalis charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Miltiadis Stratzalis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 39th match minute, Arizaga SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miltiadis Stratzalis to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Gonzalo Balda in the 43rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Arizaga SC's Miltiadis Stratzalis. After 44th play minutes Laerte de Queiroz shot 1-5, a short shot which went by Calle Davalillo and just under the crossbar into goal. Xorxe Guerrero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hurtado Gutarrate went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-5 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodolfo Peramato was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's goalkeeper Calle Davalillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Miltiadis Stratzalis. Laerte de Queiroz succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-6 in the 57th playminute. Xorxe Guerrero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hurtado Gutarrate, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 67th minute by Laerte de Queiroz got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ubaldo Pajazo in the 69th minute of play forced C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's goalkeeper Calle Davalillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Calle Davalillo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Guillermo Villariño. Ubaldo Pajazo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Sandro Massey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Chucho Latonero fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's protests and gave Chucho Latonero a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Arizaga SC booed when C.S. Guayaquil Atletico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chucho Latonero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Laerte de Queiroz came free with the goalkeeper in the 81st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Calle Davalillo could save by the left post. After 82 minutes, Xzaiver Barja mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.S. Guayaquil Atletico and the Arizaga SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 82 played minutes C.S. Guayaquil Atletico got a freekick which was hit by Xzaiver Barja. Laerte de Queiroz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Calle Davalillo made a huge save. A collision led to C.S. Guayaquil Atletico getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Xzaiver Barja hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute Laerte de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calle Davalillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arizaga SC's Laerte de Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match was over Arizaga SC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than C.S. Guayaquil Atletico throughout the match.
