The supporters of Zarzanama booed when Selvayacu SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulino Gagriel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zarzanama's Paúl Villaseñor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aristides Artaldo in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute Jonathan Azcaraso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paúl Villaseñor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Zarzanama's goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Dalmau came free, but Paúl Villaseñor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Selvayacu SC's Aristides Artaldo got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Zarzanama defense, Paulino Gagriel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paúl Villaseñor. The Zarzanama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paúl Villaseñor should have stopped the shot. In the 46th minute, Justavino Dacorrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aristides Artaldo might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paúl Villaseñor. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aristides Artaldo ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half Selvayacu SC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. German Michelena was the one to do the kick off. With his leg Paúl Villaseñor managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Selvayacu SC's Aristides Artaldo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 57th match minute, Selvayacu SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristides Artaldo to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the match, Justavino Dacorrega notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Selvayacu SC's Rolando Cancel. Rolando Cancel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Paúl Villaseñor, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 73 minutes, Gian-Carlo Callejo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zarzanama and the Selvayacu SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Zarzanama getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. If Aristides Artaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Paulino Gagriel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Selvayacu SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulino Gagriel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paúl Villaseñor breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aristides Artaldo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Aristides Artaldo put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Paúl Villaseñor. Gian-Carlo Callejo got his second yellow card in the match during the 95th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. When the match was over Selvayacu SC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zarzanama throughout the match.
