In the 5thth minute of the game Wilford Wolfe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atherton's Ari Willett was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 6 minutes into the match, Alistair Henry had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ari Willett. Atherton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alistair Henry was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Alistair Henry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ari Willett having to interfere. Ari Willett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alistair Henry in the 15th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Atherton defense, Alistair Henry kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ari Willett. The Atherton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ari Willett should have stopped the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Atherton's goal looked a bit too open when Alistair Henry came free, but Ari Willett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reggie Walden's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lane Eason read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After 25 played minutes Atherton got a freekick which was hit by Lamar Napier. Atherton's Ari Willett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alistair Henry in the 27th minute of play. Ari Willett stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wilford Wolfe's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. A collision led to Atherton getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Russell Ayers hit a great ball. Ari Willett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alistair Henry in the 33rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Anderson Mill FC's zone, Reggie Walden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lane Eason came out of the goal and Reggie Walden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th minute Wilford Wolfe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ari Willett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reggie Walden was the one to do the kick off. Ari Willett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilford Wolfe in the 53rd minute of play. Guy Palacios kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Von Earl recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Alistair Henry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilford Wolfe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th match minute, Atherton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russell Ayers to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute of the match Mike Graves shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lane Eason showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 68 minutes, Levi Burkhart mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Anderson Mill FC and the Atherton players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Anderson Mill FC's Levi Burkhart got a free kick in the 68th minute. Reggie Walden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Lane Eason tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilford Wolfe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atherton's goalkeeper Ari Willett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Alistair Henry came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Anderson Mill FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alistair Henry couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Atherton's Renato Katz got a free kick in the 84th minute.
