In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Valdosta FC's goalkeeper David Cronin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 47th minute Larry Benjamin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dana Duncan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hayden Steward stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Flagstaff's Don Wallace got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hayden Steward received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. David Cronin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Valdosta FC's zone, Don Wallace stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Cronin came out of the goal and Don Wallace tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David Cronin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hayden Steward, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. When Sol Stover fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Valdosta FC's protests and gave Sol Stover a yellow card for diving instead. In the 60th minute, Sol Stover hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flagstaff's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Larry Benjamin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 96th minute of the match, Larry Benjamin got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dana Duncan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.
