After a defensive mix-up in Smacker's zone, Connor Barnett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jim Bassett came out of the goal and Connor Barnett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Smacker getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Santo Cullen hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Preston Thomas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jim Bassett. That made the score 1-0 in the 7 minute of play. Connor Barnett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gary Otto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Orville Baggett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Connor Barnett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jim Bassett was a little too slow when Preston Thomas got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 31st minute. The score was now 2-0. Gary Otto might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Orville Baggett. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gary Otto ran back to his position shaking his head. 37 minutes in the game, Connor Barnett fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Jim Bassett having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Juve 17's Darell Ledbetter got a free kick in the 40th minute. Orville Baggett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quinton Riggs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orville Baggett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gary Otto in the 47th minute of the match. Quinton Riggs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orville Baggett having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gary Otto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gary Otto in the 55th minute of play forced Juve 17's goalkeeper Orville Baggett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jim Bassett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Preston Thomas, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Quinton Riggs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Orville Baggett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gary Otto in the 62nd minute of play. Gary Otto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 71 minutes into the match, Smacker's goal looked a bit too open when Connor Barnett came free, but Jim Bassett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emery Barrow hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Connor Barnett in the 77th minute of play forced Smacker's goalkeeper Jim Bassett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Quinton Riggs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smacker's supporters rose to their feet, but Quinton Riggs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Orville Baggett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 83 minutes into the match, Quinton Riggs notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Juve 17's Orville Baggett. Orville Baggett was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Preston Thomas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Preston Thomas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute Preston Thomas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Bassett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Smacker's goal looked a bit too open when Connor Barnett came free, but Jim Bassett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Quinton Riggs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orville Baggett having to interfere. After having played for 97 minutes, Clayton Davies managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juve 17's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clayton Davies was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Smacker's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
