An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Dyer in the 6th minute of play forced Black Stars's goalkeeper Bennett Billings to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bennett Billings showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ben Cabrera, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Jacques Wagner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerald Heller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gerald Heller came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Black Stars fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerald Heller couldn't finish the play. Trevor Wills received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Jacques Wagner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Atletico Nacional's Jacques Wagner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerald Heller in the 19th minute of play. Gerald Heller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacques Wagner having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Wilford Redd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Trevor Wills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute, Black Stars's Bronson Barrett dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. When Trevor Wills fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Black Stars's protests and gave Trevor Wills a yellow card for diving instead. Atletico Nacional's Oliver Dyer got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerald Heller stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Black Stars booed when Atletico Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pat Candido didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 55th minute of the match Black Stars got a corner. Atletico Nacional's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bernardo Greer ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Trevor Wills got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 3-0. 56 minutes into the match. Bennett Billings made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oliver Dyer in the 61st minute of play. In the 65th minute, Gerald Heller got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jacques Wagner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerald Heller in the 68th minute of play. Oliver Dyer struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Bennett Billings didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Nacional. Atletico Nacional's Oliver Dyer was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 82nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Ben Cabrera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Bennett Billings made a huge save. 88 minutes into the match, Black Stars's Trevor Wills sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacques Wagner narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Atletico Nacional's Wilford Redd got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Jacques Wagner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerald Heller, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
