Spectators: 7650 (Terracing: 5739, Seating: 1759, VIP seats: 152) Richard Yoder started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4th match minute, Devoto Shores FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raul Swenson to maneuver through the defense. In the 5th of the match, Richard Yoder tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Trevor Marin got in the way and made a wonderful save. Through an outstanding action, after 9 minutes, Trevor Marin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dennis Grimes kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Richard Yoder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Trevor Marin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricky Rosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Grimes in the 14th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Willie Browne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Weldon Henry struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Ricky Rosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Devoto Shores FC. Weldon Henry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trevor Marin didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 36th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. If Richard Yoder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, Capitol Hill Avalanche was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trent Simms to maneuver through the defense. If Richard Yoder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricky Rosa came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by Devoto Shores FC's Weldon Henry. But to his dismay, Weldon Henry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Weldon Henry stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ricky Rosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Willie Browne in the 55th minute. Willie Browne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Ricky Rosa made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Weldon Henry in the 62nd minute of play forced Capitol Hill Avalanche's goalkeeper Ricky Rosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Richard Yoder came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Capitol Hill Avalanche fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Yoder couldn't finish the play. Trent Simms received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Trevor Marin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricky Rosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Weldon Henry in the 69th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Richard Yoder managed to get in a good position for a shot. Capitol Hill Avalanche's supporters rose to their feet, but Richard Yoder was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trevor Marin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Devoto Shores FC's Dennis Grimes got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Richard Yoder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Trevor Marin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Richard Yoder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Capitol Hill Avalanche's Ricky Rosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Weldon Henry in the 98th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Capitol Hill Avalanche players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
