Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sydney Cowan started the match with the kick off. Ivan Higgins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Rubin, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Diego Rubin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Higgins having to interfere. Ivan Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Rubin in the 12th minute of the match. Sydney Cowan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Damien Levy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd match minute, Downriver AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filiberto Lovell to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute, Diego Rubin made a precise shot to the right of Ivan Higgins. Downriver AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Rubin in the 32nd minute of play forced Downriver AFC's goalkeeper Ivan Higgins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Rubin in the 35th minute of play. Domenico Arden might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Damien Levy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Domenico Arden ran back to his position shaking his head. Sydney Cowan took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Damien Levy. Damien Levy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Ian Tompkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damien Levy having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Diego Rubin was the one to do the kick off. Sydney Cowan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins got control of the ball when Keenan Cottrell tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 59th minute, West Gate's Diego Rubin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. The supporters of Downriver AFC booed when West Gate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro Ayers didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, West Gate's Diego Rubin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivan Higgins narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Keenan Cottrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 71 minutes into the match, Keenan Cottrell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Higgins. Downriver AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Keenan Cottrell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Keenan Cottrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 81st minute, West Gate's Diego Rubin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ivan Higgins. Ivan Higgins yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. Diego Rubin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Keenan Cottrell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Ivan Higgins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Downriver AFC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. The Downriver AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching West Gate's performance. The match ended with a win for West Gate.
