In the 20th minute, Loren Freeman fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Manuel Morse, passed just outside the right post. Neil Owens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Manuel Morse made a huge save. Eddy Gabriel kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Teddy Rhoades made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chuck Pendleton in the 27th minute of play. Teddy Rhoades took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chuck Pendleton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eddy Gabriel scored 0-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Teddy Rhoades, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Chuck Pendleton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eddy Gabriel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Teddy Rhoades tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hal Sparks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute Loren Freeman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Morse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Fair Haven were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chuck Pendleton was the one to do the kick off. Manuel Morse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Loren Freeman, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After having played for 53 minutes, Eddy Gabriel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fair Haven's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eddy Gabriel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manuel Morse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerry Conn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Sao Porto's Neil Owens got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 61 minutes into the match, Hal Sparks had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teddy Rhoades. FC Sao Porto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hal Sparks was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Manuel Morse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reyes Childress, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the match, FC Sao Porto's goal looked a bit too open when Johnnie Joyce came free, but Teddy Rhoades reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The FC Sao Porto fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when FC Sao Porto's Neil Owens looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Fair Haven's Manuel Morse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neil Owens in the 77th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Fair Haven's Dirk Miller got a free kick in the 80th minute. Hal Sparks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Teddy Rhoades tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Morse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loren Freeman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Eddy Gabriel took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Teddy Rhoades to make any attempt to save it. After 95 played minutes Fair Haven got a freekick which was hit by Sol Rushing. In the 96th minute of the match Wade Lovell shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Manuel Morse showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the final whistle sounded Fair Haven left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Sao Porto.
