The Wigan Athletic FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gunnar Andreasson should have stopped the shot. 19 minutes into the match, Kentucky Mustangs's Jack Agnes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gunnar Andreasson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. DeAndre Plummer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jose Cunningham hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Wigan Athletic FC's Gunnar Andreasson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tracy Brunson in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dustin Schroeder in the 33rd minute of play forced Kentucky Mustangs's goalkeeper Stanford Peters to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute, Dustin Schroeder left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wigan Athletic FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Gunnar Andreasson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tracy Brunson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gunnar Andreasson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jack Agnes in the 43rd minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jack Agnes was the one to do the kick off. Stanford Peters showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domingo Beach in the 65th minute of the match. In the 67th minute Wigan Athletic FC were awarded a corner. Vincent 张飞 went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Wigan Athletic FC's Vincent 张飞 to fire away a dangerous shot which Stanford Peters despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With an all-out effort, Kentucky Mustangs's Gunnar Andreasson threw himself towards the right post 68 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gao Lang Feng, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Stanford Peters came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Wigan Athletic FC's Domingo Beach. But to his dismay, Domingo Beach quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Domingo Beach in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stanford Peters prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 77 minutes into the game, Dwight Manning was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kentucky Mustangs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wigan Athletic FC the free kick. After 83 played minutes Kentucky Mustangs got a freekick which was hit by Tracy Brunson. In the 88thth minute of the game Tracy Brunson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wigan Athletic FC's Gunnar Andreasson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Wigan Athletic FC's Jamar Patton got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Jack Agnes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-4 in the 95th playminute.
