The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Elliot Cote made in the 4th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Virgilio Whitney immediately put the ball in play. Serginho Chulapa might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roy Holman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mountain West FC's Roy Holman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serginho Chulapa in the 9th minute of play. In the 11th minute Serginho Chulapa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roy Holman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zackary Sampson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sammy Nixon, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Royce Kay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roy Holman having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After taking down the ball on Mountain West FC's corner Calvin Cayla fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Zackary Sampson quite easily take care of the ball. The supporters of Evangel FC booed when Mountain West FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Montrel Belber didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mountain West FC made a substitution. Leif Donaldson replaced Angelo Dumas. A collision led to Mountain West FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Montrel Belber hit a great ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mountain West FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Evangel FC.
