Spectators: 9385 (Terracing: 7041, Seating: 2158, VIP seats: 186) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Garth Gould kicked off to start the match. C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 6th minute of play. If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 9 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Farid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santos FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 11th minute, when Kerry Sellers scored to the left of an out of position Aaron Smallwood, making the score, 1-0. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 14th minute of play. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Marangoni in the 16th minute of the match. In the 16th minute, Claudio Marangoni left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C. A. Independiente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Lanny Gilmore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 20th minute of play. Aaron Smallwood stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kerry Sellers's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Aaron Smallwood made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kerry Sellers in the 23rd minute. In the 25thth minute of the game Lanny Gilmore who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 26th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lanny Gilmore blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Farid Mondragón having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 30th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 34th minute of play. Aaron Smallwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 37th minute of play. After having played for 39 minutes, Lanny Gilmore managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lanny Gilmore was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Tommie Bolton replaced Garth Gould. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tyron Velasquez to make the kick off. Kerry Sellers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aaron Smallwood having to interfere. Tommie Bolton struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Aaron Smallwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C. A. Independiente. Farid Mondragón made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Lanny Gilmore sent off a good shot on target. Lanny Gilmore scored 2-1 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Farid Mondragón, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Erberk Müftüoğlu's late challenge caught a Santos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erberk Müftüoğlu helped the player get up and apologised. Erberk Müftüoğlu kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Santos FC's Dominic Albright managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Erberk Müftüoğlu in the 74 minute of the game. Farid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lanny Gilmore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Lanny Gilmore kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Farid Mondragón. That made the score 2-3 in the 81 minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Kerry Sellers notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood. Aaron Smallwood was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kerry Sellers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Alfredo Felder in the 94th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Santos FC's Tory Weeks. C. A. Independiente were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Santos FC for a fine match.
