Marshrose's Royce Rodriquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wágner Recife in the 58th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goalkeeper Santana Armada had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eloi Christopher. In the 61stth minute of the game Wágner Recife who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Marshrose's Royce Rodriquez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Eloi Christopher fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marshrose's protests and gave Eloi Christopher a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Vancouver Reds booed when Marshrose was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position.
