In the 7th minute Oscar Almaraz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Gerhof saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jean Gould sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mingo Luaces got free with Orlando Collantes in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mattias Gerhof showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christovao Arin in the 16th minute of the match. Chumo Garantos hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Jean Gould fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Collantes having to interfere. Orlando Collantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean Gould in the 28th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, Velazquez's goalkeeper Orlando Collantes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mingo Luaces. With a little luck, Velazquez's Orlando Collantes got control of the ball when Gomez Seguin tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Jean Gould came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the C. A. Punta Carretas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Gould couldn't finish the play. After having played for 42 minutes, Jean Gould managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Punta Carretas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jean Gould was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mattias Gerhof made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Almaraz in the 45th minute of play. After 47 played minutes C. A. Punta Carretas got a freekick which was hit by Sugar Tejeyra. Chumo Garantos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 48th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mattias Gerhof. C. A. Punta Carretas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gomez Seguin to strike the kick off in the second half. When Mingo Luaces came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the C. A. Punta Carretas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mingo Luaces couldn't finish the play. Paublo Villaren kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. C. A. Punta Carretas were furious when Sugar Tejeyra was red carded, 75 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 74th minute of the game. One of C. A. Punta Carretas:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Velazquez:s goal. When the match had been going on for 77 minutes, Velazquez's Chumo Garantos got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Mattias Gerhof. In the 79th match minute, C. A. Punta Carretas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gomez Seguin to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Almaraz in the 81st minute of play forced C. A. Punta Carretas's goalkeeper Mattias Gerhof to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Velazquez's Oscar Almaraz, in the 81st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Velazquez. Pinto Coz ran back to his position shaking his head. Orlando Collantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berto Cando in the 95th minute of play. The C. A. Punta Carretas supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Velazquez's performance. The match ended with a win for Velazquez.
