An unexpectedly hard shot by Severo Tarapiella in the 12th minute of play forced Barrancas's goalkeeper Zumar Lerin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 13 played minutes C. A. Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Enaut Herquinigo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zoil Orue in the 14th minute of play forced C. A. Peñarol's goalkeeper Hector Yanes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute, Joey Claramonte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute Serafino Tixido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zumar Lerin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zumar Lerin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severo Tarapiella in the 23rd minute of the match. Severo Tarapiella's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zumar Lerin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Peñarol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serafino Tixido was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Serafino Tixido in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zumar Lerin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 39thth minute of the game Severo Tarapiella who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barrancas's Zumar Lerin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half C. A. Peñarol were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zoil Orue to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the C. A. Peñarol defense, Isaio Mendieta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hector Yanes. The C. A. Peñarol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hector Yanes should have stopped the shot. Zumar Lerin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severo Tarapiella in the 57th minute of the match. Serafino Tixido who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Zumar Lerin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Joey Claramonte was shown his second yellow card after 62 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Barrancas's Joey Claramonte got a free kick in the 63rd minute. If Severo Tarapiella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the game, Hanot Majua was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barrancas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C. A. Peñarol the free kick. Hanot Majua kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Hanot Majua hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the match, Barrancas's goal looked a bit too open when Steven Flecha came free, but Zumar Lerin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zumar Lerin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Severo Tarapiella's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Serafino Tixido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Zumar Lerin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Zumar Lerin, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 94 minutes into the match, Barrancas's goalkeeper Zumar Lerin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serafino Tixido. In the 97th minute, Severo Tarapiella got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. C. A. Peñarol were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
