Peñarol defense, Playo Arroniz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rocendo Iturriaga. The C. A. Peñarol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rocendo Iturriaga should have stopped the shot. 32 minutes into the match, Leon Vallino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Esteve Moyeda, 1-1. Rocendo Iturriaga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Playo Arroniz in the 35th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 38th minute by Cordaro Meca got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Joanico FC's goalkeeper Esteve Moyeda, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bastian Zuazo to make the kick off.
