Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Matinada's Wilson Diniz started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Sílvio Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Scorpion EC's Sílvio Proença got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Walmyr Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. André Luís Valladares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kaká Netto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilson Diniz in the 21st minute of the match. André Luís Valladares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Sílvio Luiz Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. André Luís Valladares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Proença, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cícero Correia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Kaká Netto made a huge save. Cícero Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilson Diniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wágner Prado shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Cícero Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká Netto having to interfere. After 55 played minutes Matinada got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo de Alcântara. A hard shot by Wágner Prado from long distance, 56 minutes into the match, got André Luís Valladares's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Kaká Netto came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Matinada's Cícero Correia. But to his dismay, Cícero Correia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The supporters of Scorpion EC booed when Matinada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sílvio Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Scorpion EC's goalkeeper Kaká Netto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 87th minute Sílvio Proença shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís Valladares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matinada's Cícero Correia got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 89 played minutes Scorpion EC got a freekick which was hit by Danilo Brodel. If Sílvio Luiz Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Scorpion EC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Matinada.
