After 28 played minutes Iron City F.C got a freekick which was hit by Robinho de Souza. When Vítor Matos came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Xixas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Matos couldn't finish the play. Alfredinho Félix's late challenge caught a Iron City F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredinho Félix helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Xixas's Alfredinho Félix got a free kick in the 34th minute. 41 minutes into the match, José Augusto Mesquita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luizão Souto, 1-0. Gilmar Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Luizão Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Percy Rosa made a kick off. Romeu Alagoano hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Luizão Souto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Augusto Mesquita, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 71st minute, Gilmar Bittencourt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 75 minutes into the match, José Augusto Mesquita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luizão Souto. Iron City F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Augusto Mesquita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. If José Augusto Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that José Augusto Mesquita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luizão Souto was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Xixas were victorious despite being under pressure from Iron City F.C for much of the match.
