When Botafogo FC's Román Espínola in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Régis Ceresso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roger Pereira in the 19th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Percy Dante managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botafogo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Percy Dante was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Régis Ceresso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in S.E Galo Vermelho's zone, Román Espínola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Régis Ceresso came out of the goal and Román Espínola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, S.E Galo Vermelho's Kauan Zonta got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Román Espínola spun around in front of the goal 35 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of S.E Galo Vermelho's goal. If Roger Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Román Espínola's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Régis Ceresso was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. S.E Galo Vermelho's Régis Ceresso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roger Pereira in the 46th minute of play. When the match clock showed 48 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Román Espínola sped through S.E Galo Vermelho's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Régis Ceresso. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dráusio Vargas was the one to do the kick off. After 55 played minutes, S.E Galo Vermelho's Benedito França shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Olívio Amorim came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in S.E Galo Vermelho reached it. Román Espínola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Régis Ceresso having to interfere. In the 58th match minute, S.E Galo Vermelho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kauan Zonta to maneuver through the defense. Régis Ceresso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Román Espínola in the 66th minute of the match. Régis Ceresso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Román Espínola, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Tiago Freitas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Régis Ceresso firmly grabbed it by the left post. 74 minutes into the match, S.E Galo Vermelho's goal looked a bit too open when Román Espínola came free, but Régis Ceresso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Román Espínola who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 89thth minute tested the skills of Régis Ceresso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 92 minutes into the match, Agenor de Mendonça notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of S.E Galo Vermelho's Régis Ceresso. Régis Ceresso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Román Espínola got free with Régis Ceresso in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
