Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Breno Dracena started the match with the kick off. When Alexandre Vale fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costello's protests and gave Alexandre Vale a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th match minute, Costello was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Vale to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Zé Paulo Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ponte Preta CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Paulo Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Carlos Moura breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 8 minutes into the match, Costello's goal looked a bit too open when Breno Dracena came free, but João Carlos Moura reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 10th minute Breno Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Moura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Breno Dracena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. João Carlos Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Ponte Preta CS's goalkeeper Dedé Félix had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gildo Coelho. In the 21st minute, Breno Dracena ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Carlos Moura was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 26th minute, Paulo Albuquerque got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Breno Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paulo Figueiredo scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dedé Félix, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Breno Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ponte Preta CS's Zé Paulo Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gildo Coelho had several of the Ponte Preta CS's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 43 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Dedé Félix as he didn't even see the shot coming. Breno Dracena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. João Carlos Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edu Baptista was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breno Dracena in the 55th minute of play forced Costello's goalkeeper João Carlos Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Breno Dracena couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute, Léo Lira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. João Carlos Moura showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breno Dracena in the 74th minute of the match. 76 minutes into the game, Gildo Coelho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Dedé Félix was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 83 minutes into the game, Zé Paulo Amaral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponte Preta CS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costello the free kick. The supporters of Costello booed when Ponte Preta CS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dedé Félix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Baptista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Breno Dracena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Carlos Moura having to interfere. João Carlos Moura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breno Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. João Carlos Moura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breno Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Costello players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
