The score was now 1-0. The supporters of CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE booed when Baxiu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Adolfo Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Paulo José Lopes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Luiz da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Cafu Miranda's late challenge caught a CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cafu Miranda helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Baxiu getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Cafu Miranda hit a great ball. Baxiu's Paulo José Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Baxiu from getting a goal against them. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Baxiu's goalkeeper Paulo José Lopes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 47 minutes, Raimundo Ceresso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baxiu and the CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Baxiu's Raimundo Ceresso got a free kick in the 47th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Adolfo Luz to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedrão Mandrak in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paulo José Lopes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Paulo José Lopes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anísio Urbano's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. A collision led to Baxiu getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Bruninho Correia hit a great ball. Danilo Machado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Adolfo Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 66 minutes into the match, João Adolfo Luz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Danilo Machado. CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Adolfo Luz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's zone, Bruninho Correia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo Machado came out of the goal and Bruninho Correia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bruninho Correia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Danilo Machado made a huge save. Bruninho Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Machado having to interfere. Danilo Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Adolfo Luz in the 79th minute of the match. With a little luck, CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's Danilo Machado got control of the ball when Bruninho Correia tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 83rd minute of the match Baxiu got a corner. CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marcus Figueiredo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Marcus Figueiredo made a great header on Baxiu's corner, it was just that CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's Danilo Machado managed to reach the ball for a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cafu Miranda in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Danilo Machado saved CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE from getting behind. Paulo José Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ladislao Medero, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Ladislao Medero might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo José Lopes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ladislao Medero ran back to his position shaking his head. Paulo José Lopes came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE's Anísio Urbano. But to his dismay, Anísio Urbano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE had won after a very even match.
