In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pilaozinho's goalkeeper Hílton Catarinense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Juventus Esporte Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Afonsinho Mazza in the 24th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan Mello couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Pilaozinho booed when Juventus Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulinho Paraíba didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 69th minute, Jorge Mello left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
