Téo Proença started the match with the kick off. Vasco da Gama's Kauã Bittencourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hudson de Almeida in the 5th minute of play. 8 minutes into the game, Deivid Cordeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marcolino FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasco da Gama the free kick. Elói Moura showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remo Capixaba in the 18th minute of the match. With 21 minutes on the clock, Hugo Mendonça commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 20 minutes into the game, one of Marcolino FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After a rather tough play, Vasco da Gama's Guilherme de Azevedo got a free kick in the 26th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Capixaba in the 30th minute of play forced Marcolino FC's goalkeeper Elói Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elói Moura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remo Capixaba, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. A collision led to Marcolino FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Renato de Salles hit a great ball. In the 35th minute of the match Erasmo Corrêa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elói Moura showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Elói Moura made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Moisés Bastos sent off a good shot on target. After 43 played minutes Marcolino FC got a freekick which was hit by Rubens Ramos. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Capixaba in the 47th minute of play forced Marcolino FC's goalkeeper Elói Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Remo Capixaba to strike the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, Marcolino FC's Téo Proença sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kauã Bittencourt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 51st minute, Ian Breckenfeld hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rubens Ramos during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 53rd match minute, Marcolino FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubens Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Tião Porto might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kauã Bittencourt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tião Porto ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Vasco da Gama booed when Marcolino FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubens Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elói Moura stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Remo Capixaba's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Moisés Bastos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Elói Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Téo Proença, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 74 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Kauã Bittencourt was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Guilherme de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elói Moura having to interfere. In the 79th minute, Vasco da Gama's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Tião Porto fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Tião Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Kauã Bittencourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Tião Porto took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Kauã Bittencourt to make any attempt to save it. Marcolino FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
