Cacá Andrade was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rubro Negro Rj's Paulo Domingues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovânio Castro in the 20th minute of play. Nelsinho Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Cacá Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cacá Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Falcão in the 22nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Rubro Negro Rj's zone, Tomás de Moraes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Domingues came out of the goal and Tomás de Moraes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 26 minutes into the match, Rubro Negro Rj's goalkeeper Paulo Domingues had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomás de Moraes. Marquinhos Rodrigues struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Paulo Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bocapaulista. Luís Falcão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cacá Andrade having to make a save. Rubro Negro Rj were furious when Humberto de Sena was red carded, 36 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. If Geovânio Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Falcão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cacá Andrade having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Geovânio Castro to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match, Nelsinho Lago tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cacá Andrade saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Bocapaulista's Cacá Andrade proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Bocapaulista from getting a goal against them. Geovânio Castro took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Domingues. Paulo Domingues dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Rubro Negro Rj played a much better game than Bocapaulista and deserved their victory. The Bocapaulista players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
