Gerson Silva hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. When Flavinho Cavalcante got free in front of the goal in the 20th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Chicão Fonseca was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Adilson Damião struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Chicão Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Os Mal Falado. Pedrão Sá was left in no man's land by his defense there! Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Flavinho Cavalcante stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Parnaiba FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Lucas to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Flavinho Cavalcante in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chicão Fonseca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pedro Luiz Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 61 minutes into the match, Os Mal Falado's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Siqueira came free, but Pedrão Sá reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 64 minutes, Oswaldo Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Os Mal Falado's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oswaldo Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After recieving a nice pass, Parnaiba FC's Jacinto Gaúcho tried to score from far away in the 84th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Adilson Damião sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flavinho Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Fonseca having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavinho Cavalcante in the 92nd minute of play forced Parnaiba FC's goalkeeper Chicão Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Parnaiba FC had won after a very even match.
