The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Goias E. C.'s Júlio Marinho got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Sidney Montenegro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Júlio Miranda in the 20th minute. After 27 played minutes DunHill F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luiz Tinoco. Sidney Montenegro acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 28th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Sidnei de Godoi. DunHill F.C.'s Sidney Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Moreno in the 31st minute of play. Júlio Miranda was extremely unlucky when he, in the 32nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 36 minutes into the match, DunHill F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Moreno came free, but Sidney Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Júlio Miranda cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Sidney Montenegro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, DunHill F.C.'s Sidney Montenegro got control of the ball when Júlio Miranda tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sidney Montenegro made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Júlio Miranda sent off a good shot on target. Eduardo Moreno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Sidney Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emílio da Fonseca to make the kick off. When Cristóvão Alvarenga came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the DunHill F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristóvão Alvarenga couldn't finish the play. In a very dangerous position, a player in DunHill F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Goias E. C. a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sidnei de Godoi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of DunHill F.C.'s Sidney Montenegro. 2-0. A collision led to Goias E. C. getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Júlio Marinho hit a great ball. In the 63rd minute, Goias E. C.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cristóvão Alvarenga fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Eduardo Moreno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Sidney Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to DunHill F.C. getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Walmir Vander hit a great ball. If Júlio Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eduardo Moreno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Goias E. C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! If Júlio Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Moreno in the 85th minute of play forced DunHill F.C.'s goalkeeper Sidney Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cláudio Romero might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sidney Montenegro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cláudio Romero ran back to his position shaking his head. Eduardo Moreno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eduardo Moreno in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sidney Montenegro saved DunHill F.C. from getting behind. When Adhemar Barbosa fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DunHill F.C.'s protests and gave Adhemar Barbosa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 97th minute Eduardo Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidney Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Júlio Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Goias E. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Júlio Marinho couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Goias E. C. were the better team. Goias E. C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
