After having played for 10 minutes, Caetano Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.R. Flamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caetano Zanette was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Caetano Zanette's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 12thth minute, Juvenal Ceresso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Caetano Sá fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Ceresso having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Bocaiuva's Dida Baiano got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Carlos Arósio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. José Vítor Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of C.R. Flamengo booed when Bocaiuva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marquinhos Donato didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Caetano Sá's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juvenal Ceresso was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Caetano Zanette fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Ceresso having to interfere. Caetano Sá recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Vítor Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Arósio, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Serafim Batista to strike the kick off in the second half. Carlos Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Serafim Batista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without José Vítor Vieira having to make a save. In the 54th minute, Manfredo Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Bocaiuva getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Pedrinho da Costa hit a great ball. After 61 minutes, Nico da Silveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.R. Flamengo and the Bocaiuva players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carlos Arósio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Bernardinho Vianna charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bernardinho Vianna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Vítor Vieira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Arósio went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Caetano Sá came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the C.R. Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caetano Sá couldn't finish the play. 95 minutes into the match, Válter Nascimento notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Bocaiuva's Juvenal Ceresso. Juvenal Ceresso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
