Spectators: 7169 (Terracing: 5400, Seating: 1669, VIP seats: 100) 5 minutes into the match, Valdomiro Zonta dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Álvaro Rossi, 1-0. In the 9th minute, Valdomiro Zonta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Álvaro Rossi was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. With a little luck, VASCO's Álvaro Rossi got control of the ball when Jorge França tried to sneak it across the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, VASCO's goalkeeper Álvaro Rossi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Severino Santana. The supporters of VASCO booed when Sapesal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Linares didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdomiro Zonta got free with Álvaro Rossi in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Sapesal's Inácio de Medeiros got a free kick in the 31st minute. Álvaro Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdomiro Zonta in the 39th minute of play. Valdomiro Zonta received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felippe Peres during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, VASCO's Felippe Peres got a free kick in the 45th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some careless play in the VASCO defense, Valdomiro Zonta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Álvaro Rossi. The VASCO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Álvaro Rossi should have stopped the shot. Álvaro Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdomiro Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Álvaro Rossi came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Sapesal's Inácio de Medeiros. But to his dismay, Inácio de Medeiros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. In the 66th minute Valdomiro Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Rossi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Álvaro Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdomiro Zonta, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. VASCO's Álvaro Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio de Medeiros in the 71st minute of play.
